About Me

My Life

I was born in 1984 and raised in the beautiful rural city of Hereford. I was left paralysed from the chest following a tragic accident in 1998 and live as a wheelchair-bound, spinally injured tetraplegic. I also have mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. I write modern and striking poetry that I use as a therapeutic outlet for my emotions. I write poetry in a candid and impactful fashion, which aims to deliver vital messages to engage and resonate with readers.

Why I Write

I have written poetry as a coping mechanism and an outlet for my emotions since I attended therapy for my mental health issues. I wrote solely for my benefit, but I received much encouragement as I became more open with my work. I discovered people could relate to my writing. As a result, I’ve been determined to release a published piece that can hopefully reach, inspire, and motivate people encountering similar issues.

Why Mental Health?

I think mental health issues are at the core of who we are as human beings. Mental health issues affect us all in some way, shape, or form. We all have difficulties in life, no matter how big or small, and I hope readers of my work can expect to find at least some poems that strike a chord with them and resonate with emotions they have experienced.

Mental health is not something we can ignore. Some poems are incredibly dark and challenging to navigate, but it’s mandatory. People must know it’s ok to express your emotions in healthy ways. It’s ok to feel what we feel, and we must find ways to help people bring their issues to the surface—in a society that is understanding and empathetic—so they can get the help they need.

The most important thing is to reach out for the help you need if you struggle with mental health issues. Mental health is not something of which anyone should be ashamed.
